What Can the Common Symptoms in Kidney Cysts Tell Us

Kidney Cysts include simple kidney cyst, adult polycystic kidney disease and acquired kidney cysts. Different types present diverse symptoms. Generally, their signs include:
Pain in kidney area
Pain in kidney area is presenting as backache, dull pain, severe pain or abdominal pain. The pain can be induced by intensive exercises, long walk, and sitting for a long time. The symptoms get relieved after getting some rest. Internal bleeding of kidneys, kidney stone movement or infection can become the main culprits accounting for severe pain.
Renal swelling
A few cysts or several ones present as unsymmetric sizes. In cases of simple kidney cysts, one or two cysts exist. But in cases of PKD, numerous cysts seriously damage the kidneys. Due to all those uneven size of cysts, the kidneys get swollen causing renal swelling or kidney enlargement.
Hematuria
About half of the patients with Kidney Cysts develop microscopic hematuria, some of them live with gross hematuria in certain cases. The blood in urine is usually caused by ruptured blood vessels of cyst wall. Colic pain forms as overmuch bleeding passing through ureter. Blood in urine is often accompanied with leucocyturia as well as proteinuria (urine protein is usually no less than 1.0g/d). pyuria becomes seriously as the intrarenal infections develop. What’s more, hematuria aggravates, backache together with fever also come into being.
Hypertension
Half of the patients with Kidney Cysts would suffer from hypertension before their serum creatinine increases. This is closely connected with the oppression to surrounding tissues coming from cysts, which contributes to the activation of resin- angiotensin- aldosterone. The growing of Kidney Cysts is closely related with high blood pressure. In other words, those with high blood pressure are often accompanied with rapid growing cysts, meaning this kind of patients with Kidney Cysts have poor prognosis than those without hypertension.
Renal insufficiency
Renal insufficiency occurs commonly. Sometimes, teenager patients live with Renal Failure in few cases. But more often than not, most of the patients won’t suffer from renal insufficiency before their age of 40 years. Half of the kidney function can be kept before 70 years old. Nevertheless, the duration of Renal Failure from Kidney Cysts is significantly shortened due to their high blood pressure.
