In dialysis, the doctor will make an access point into your blood vessels using minor surgery. Sometimes access is created by joining an artery to a vein under your skin, making a bigger blood vessels or fistula. If your blood vessels are not the right size for a fistula, a soft plastic tube will be used to join an artery and a vein under your skin. Sometimes, a narrow plastic tube called catheter, which is inserted into a large vein in your neck will be used. Dialysis needs to be done several times a week and usually lasts about 3 to 4 hours. So some Renal Failure patients have to bear the pain and discomforts also the inconvenience brought by dialysis. Dialysis patients can hardly do anything, but have to spend much time on dialysis.
Some Renal Failure patients have to bear side effects caused by dialysis
The side effects caused by dialysis include migraines, pulsating effect in eyes and gums, low blood pressure, light fluttering and spots, lethargic, nausea, visual disturbances and so on. Some dialysis patients can even have faint during the dialysis treatment, which is very terrible.
The insufficiency of dialysis
Dialysis can only help Renal Failure patients remove the creatinine, uric acid, urea nitrogen and other small molecules. However, in their blood, there are still other kinds of toxic substances, such as CysC, interleukin-6, PTH, cytokines, RBP, HCY, immune complexes and so on which dialysis can not eliminate. So these toxic substances can keep destroying kidneys and other organs, less and less kidney function will be left.

Some dialysis patients will choose a kidney transplant eventually. As a matter of fact, dialysis or kidney transplant is not necessary as long as the kidney function can be increased to a certain degree.
